Garden Art

Back to the garden for some more found objects.  

This guy must weigh a ton. Luckily we like it so we're off the hook on moving it. 
A library book on 'Moving Heavy Objects' has appeared, though, so perhaps relocation is in the future.

This is a family original - an unusually shaped branch very specifically placed by the youngest artist in the family.   She's setting the bar pretty high for us here.

Boat Idea

So once we sort through the kayaks, rowboats, flat bottomed boats, and canoes (have I missed any?), clearly there will be some sort of opportunity to sell one and upgrade the kitchen. 

Or, we could always do something a bit more creative.  Saw the Chihuly exhibit at the MFA a couple weeks ago (amazing!) and clearly we've been overlooking a lot of boat art possibilities.

More Art in the Woods

We've clearly walked by this a couple times but it finally registered

today. Sun must just be a little brighter or a little higher in the
sky (thank you spring!)

Either that or the gnomes have been busy the last week.



Art in the Woods

We had seen this from the path by the pond, and assumed it was part of some rusting car, or machinery

Went up to check it out this afternoon, and it's a very interesting hoop.  Very rough, heavy outside, smooth finish inside. 

Then I noticed this fishline and hook wrapped around the hoop.  Hard to see in the photo, but trust me it's there. 

That's odd, I thought, but maybe it's some fishing rig.  It's less than 100 feet from the water, after all.  Then I looked down at the ground.

In between the blueberry bushes and leaves was what looks like a sea urchin, only all metal.  Really spiky.  An anchor? 

When I picked it up I was impressed by the welding. 

Then I noticed a small hole in one of the spikes.

Aha!

Now that's better.
Not sure if that was its creator's original intent, but I kind of liked it, so there it stays.
Should give the kids something to wonder about as they explore.
